Southern Metroplex Athletics is a sports organization that was established to serve at-risk youth within our communities by providing a positive and safe atmosphere to channel their energy. Our organization is aimed at helping boys and girls develop sustainable life lessons such as teamwork, leadership, self-confidence, self-discipline, respect, and coping skills. We provide a structured, supportive environment for young people that includes a healthy place for them to feel safe and an organized sports programs for all age levels, both boys and girls. Throughout the year we host special events that include city mayors, sports figures, and inspirational and motivational speakers from all over the DFW Metroplex. These events focus on improving self-esteem and assisting older teens with finding part-time employment and/or opportunities to volunteer in our community.
Southern Metroplex Athletics is designed for year-round comprehensive environmental teaching of life lessons through sports. Our program is structured around youth sports being a tool and gateway to help shape and build young athletes into responsible young adults.
The young people that enter our program will be taught the “My Starting Five Principles”:
1. Strong Work Ethic
Our hope is that participants will learn to give maximum effort through their worth ethic and willingness to learn to follow a discipline of persistence that will give each player the greatest amount of success.
Southern Metroplex Athletics will provide positive exposure to a diverse range of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our program embraces responsibility and respect to foster a sense of community, by way of competitive sports, so that each child can enhance his or her individual potential, whether a beginner or experienced player.
Southern Metroplex Athletics organization's goals are to:
· Help our athletes develop sustainable life lessons such as teamwork, leadership, self-confidence, self-discipline, respect for one selves and others, working as a team to create cohesiveness, and coping skills,
· Allow our athletes to become active and fit,
· Teach our athletes the overall concept of basketball and prepare them for the next level of basketball and beyond,
· Use age-appropriate drills to teach our athletes higher-level skills, and
· Educate our athletics on the fundamental skills of basketball so they can analyze and understand the game.
We are committed to each player in Southern Metroplex Athletics. We will hold each player accountable for their own behavior, on and off the court, and their academic performance.
We will strive to promote and educate our athletes, both on and off the court, by increasing their knowledge and basketball IQ through skill acquisition. Our hopes are to build a community where all people can come together and accomplish greatness through teamwork.
